Constructor app for recording and viewing 3D models
We designed and built the Constructor app so that Tango developers would be able to record and view the 3D models ('meshes') of their surroundings that they capture.With Constructor app a developer can export or import 3D model files, which can be used in other apps or in the developer’s favourite environment, such as Unity.
Explorer app to visualize device motion in 3D
We built the Explorer app to demonstrate the three core technical concepts of Tango: motion tracking, area learning and depth perception.
The Explorer app visualizes device motion in 3D, learns and loads area description files, displays the point cloud captured by the depth sensor, and shows the underlying data in diagnostics mode.
There are three modes to view the captured data: Area Learning, Point Cloud and Diagnostics mode.
We are very excited about working on Tango technology. The application possibilities for it are extremely versatile, such as indoor navigation tools, VR gaming and education experiences, AR shopping experiences, and automated orientation and navigation for robots in closed spaces.
Tango core technology existed, but the platform for displaying and sharing the technology with developers needed improvement.
